Hi all and welcome to my second blog post! I’ve just returned to London after spending a week in New York, which left me full of ideas for autumn trends and workwear updates. That said, I was pleased to see that some trends do not die so easily, which allows me to recycle last year’s purchases; monochrome houndstooth and grey tailoring really have stood the test of time. They are simple, work-wearable and accommodate London’s bipolar weather.
This black, white and grey outfit is the most transitional one I have. The beautiful oversized statement coat – with a pop of mustard calf-hair lining – breaks the monotone grey. The trousers are made from the lightest, softest and most flow-y wool, and have a micro-houndstooth print. The tailoring for me is near perfect – comfortable around the waist and thighs (both my problem areas) and shapely on the bum. I have even worn these trousers to work on hot summer days, where they weirdly kept me cool on those warm Canary Wharf commutes.
All items were purchased in autumn/winter 2016, showing that you can still get more use out of your winter wardrobe when the weather finally decides to turn!
